After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University in 1993, Nguyên headed to Dallas to work for Texas Instruments, Inc. where he designed Army National Guard training simulators. In 2001, Nguyên and his family moved back home to Houston where he successfully started Winning Agency. Nguyên hosted a monthly radio talk show, "Personal Finance", on KREH 900 AM for over 8 years. He was also a co-host on a weekly television show on Houston VAN TV Channel 55.2. In 2005, Nguyên established the Lê Hoàng Nguyên Scholarship to provide scholarships to outstanding graduating high school seniors attending college in the upcoming fall semester. The scholarship is administered by the Vietnamese American Scholarship Foundation. Nguyên is an active supporter of The Vietnamese Culture and Science Association (VCSA) and their annual Youth Leadership Development Camp, Camp Lên Đường.
